I am of Portuguese origin and retired from the post of Head of Department of Innovation Studies at the University of East London, UK. I am a past- President of the European Inter-University Association for Society, Science and Technology (ESST). I taught in the areas of Political Economy of ICTs, Technology and Work, Technology and Sustainable Development. My research interests have included: the relationship between technical experts and users of ICTs, the ideology of the information society, European science and technology policy.
